Message After graciously getting on Barry's calendar for this past Sunday, the seat skins are installed.

FYI, anyone thinking of installing them yourself, be forewarned as it is a significant amount of labor to install. Use zip ties instead of hog rings and get yourself a good pair of dikes and you'll be set.

That said, I ordered a set of black suede skins, ribbed for her pleasure with red stitching. The total cost came out to 500 with shipping.

The quality of the material is very nice. It is very soft and comfortable. I don't think anyone will be sliding around with these seat skins that's for sure. The suede itself is not real cow hide but more of a material such as nova suede. It didn't not stretch at all which made installation somewhat more difficult, specifically on the bottom where the seat back mounts to the seat bottom.

The quality of the seat skin design is good, but definitely not perfect. There are some areas that, in both my and Barry's opinions, need to be addressed. I'm not sure if this issue is specific to just my one off skins, or ribbed skins in general.

Issue #1, the red circle. There seams to be slightly too much material at that location and it could have sit a bit tighter.

Issue #2, the red square. This is a bit difficult to explain. The rear of the seat skin is anchored via a tube of fabric sewn into the skin that has a bar of metal through it (think of it as a piece of coat hanger). Zip ties or hog rings then anchor the coat hanger through 3 holes in the foam and finally attach to the metal frame of the seat.

On the OEM covers, the anchor point on the skin is directly above the holes in the foam.

On the Tuner D skins, the anchor point on the skins was on the last rib of the seats which is about 1.5 inches too far away from the holes. It seems as if the person that made them should have added an additional rib and placed the anchor point there.

I can probably live with the first issue, but the second may cause problems down the line.

Both problems were present on both bottom covers.

Here are a few more shots.

Overall, i'm fairly happy with the purchase. I saved over 300 bucks (vs Import Extreme) and I guess you get what you pay for. I would probably from tuner d again, provided these issues get resolved. If you're looking for perfection, look elsewhere.

Alex
